Claiming info

The claiming process:
At about Feb 25th at 0900 UTC I'll put up the claims post with comments disabled. Each art preview will be listed with the title, medium, rating, a list of character(s), pairing(s), warning(s), and other notes, if applicable.

The post will be locked to members-only. Over the weekend authors can look through the post and decide on their top 5 choices*. On Feb 28th at 2300 UTC (find out when this is for you here) the claiming post will go live. I'll allow comments, and authors can reply with their top 5 choices.

Claims are given on a first-come, first-served basis. If all of your 5 choices have already been claimed once, then I'll reply to your comment asking if you would like to choose from the art that is still available, or if you'd prefer to wait until all of the art has been claimed once.

If you choose to wait, I'll go through the comments until all the art has been claimed once, then go back to the top and work my way down again. Choosing to wait does not guarantee that you will get one of your top 5 choices.

After claiming I will send authors an email with the full-size version of the art that they've claimed, and the email address of their artist, if you want to discuss the challenge.


What to do if you can't make the claiming time:
You can have a proxy sign up for you. Leave a comment to this post saying who you want your proxy to be, and have them request to join the community.


*For the people who are participating as both an artist and an author, obviously you won't be allowed to claim your own piece.


Reminders:
Art is due at the end of the day today! If you haven't submitted your artwork and have not contacted us about an extension, please do so ASAP.

Author sign-ups also close at the end of the day!

Aaaargh! It's so frustrating only being able to see thumbnails. I can't wait for the claiming on Feb 28th! You are going to reveal the full artworks then, aren't you? Please?

Nope, you'll only be sent the full-size for the artwork that you've claimed.

Oh dear - I misunderstood the way this worked. If I'd known that all the writers got to see was a thumbnail, when choosing, I'd have made mine a little differently. Maybe you could emphasise that for the artists a bit more in future?

I'm sorry about that, I thought I did make myself clear by saying art previews when talking about claiming (referring to the 300x300px art previews that artists had to submit).

Even from just the thumbnails (once I got them to load, damn you dial-up but thank you mod for making thumbnails rather than full size pics), all of the art is wonderful. While I hope I get my first pic pick (because I already have the story idea just from looking at that much), I've got two lists of five I would be delighted to use as a story basis. The artists have outdone themselves for this round.

For fairness's sake, I would like you to try and pick 5. Keep in mind that you will be able to talk things over with your artist if, for example, you feel like you can't write a preferred pairing. You could write a gen piece instead, if the art isn't explictly shippy (and there are many pieces that could be considered gen).

As with all big bangs, there is a chance that you won't get your top pick, but I hope you will challenge yourself and give it a shot anyways. If you're really unable to write something for your piece, you can drop out before April 30th without being banned from the next round.

And if you're really determined to get your top 3, I can only suggest that you or proxy comment quickly.

All the artworks are amazing! Do we pick today or is that tomorrow for authors to choose? There is just so many to choose from!

You can choose your top 5 ahead of time to make things (hopefully) go quicker, but you can't actually claim anything until tomorrow.

Great art, even if it's only thumbnails for now, makes it easy to be inspired :D At first when I looked, there was only four that I had ideas for, tbh. Now when I looked again there was 13, I think it might be the two weeks of fever talking, lol.
